Redeem your Steam key
Steam → Games → Activate a Product on Steam. Skip this if you already own New Citizen.

Unlock the test branch
Right-click New Citizen in your library → Properties → Betas. Paste the access code and press Check code, then pick the private-test branch.

Download the build
About 32 GB. Grab a coffee — then press Play.

Join the test server
Title screen → press any key → Server list → join Active Testing Server (Sydney). Then Settings → Testing → paste your Tester ID so performance telemetry links to you.
Everything you see is work in progress — please do not share video or screenshots outside the test group until we say go.
Play normally, break things
Move and sprint
Sprinting earns skill points. Press J for Health and Skills. Tell us if stamina feels too fast or too slow.
Eat and drink
Burger Barn is on the City Hall sidewalk. Food and water should last roughly an hour. Fast food binges can make you ill — quietly.
See the doctor
Dr. Reyes at the hospital. A blood test shows what your diet did; treatment eases it for 45 minutes (J page, second tab).
Claim a street car
Walk up to an unowned car and press F on the Buy prompt — money comes from your bank or pocket.
Police, fire and EMS duty
Go on duty for roll call, pick a uniform in the locker room, Start Shift puts you at the station.
Crowds — break things
Gather at one spot with other testers, drive through traffic, call for services. Note lag, rubber-banding or stutter and WHERE on the map.

Something looks or plays wrong
Open chat with Enter, type /bug and one sentence, press Enter. Your game details and log tail go with it automatically.
The game crashed
Start it again and play — the crash report is sent automatically 25 seconds after you are back in the city.
You cannot get back in
Message the organiser on Discord with the time and what the screen said.
Kicked or disconnected
/bug as soon as you are back, with the time.

Performance telemetry // opt-in, transparent
With your consent the game sends us performance data while you play: FPS and frame times, game/render/GPU thread timings, ping and packet loss, VRAM and RAM use, hitches, where on the map you were and how many players were around. Plus your PC specs once. That's how we find the real bottlenecks instead of guessing from reports.
We never read files, keystrokes, chat or anything outside the game's own performance counters. You can pause telemetry any time from your tester portal, and your data is deleted 60 days after the round.
